1. Why should I get an infrared scan? Insulation gets left out of many homes, even new ones. Until you address insulation deficiencies and air gaps, other energy upgrades can’t do their jobs.
2. What does an infrared scan involve? The thermographer will ask you some questions before conducting a methodical scan. Walking alongside, you can watch what the imager is picking up in real time. A 3,000 square-foot structure can be scanned in approximately two hours.
3. Does it matter what time of day you scan my home? It’s best to scan at dawn or an hour or more after sunset.
4. How much does an infrared scan cost? If your home or building is 3,000 square feet or less, the fee is $400. Up to 3,500 and it’s $450, etc.
5. What kind of report will I receive? A full report is usually available within 48 hours as a PowerPoint file on CD.
6. Will Visual Cue do my remediation work? We’re afraid that would create a conflict of interest. Visit our Green Building Experts page or ask for our complete list of pre-screened, seasoned, green building experts. They know what works, when, and why.
Please note: we don’t offer or accept referral fees, and we won’t share your information.
Poor ceiling insulation job
Where’s the insulation? This was a brand-new home.
Flat screens generate a lot of heat. This looks like a fireplace, doesn’t it?
